A horrifying incident has come to light in Asaba, Delta State, where a 17-year-old boy, Samuel Onyeme, was brutally assaulted and locked in a dog cage for simply visiting his classmate, Anastasia Celestine.
The attack was perpetrated by Anastasia’s father, Celestine, and his two sons, who deemed Samuel’s visit as an affront to their family’s honor.
Samuel’s mother, Mrs. Onyeme, recounted the harrowing tale of how her son was ambushed and beaten by the Celestine men, who then confined him to a dog cage.
“They attacked him on the street, dragged him into their compound, and inflicted severe physical injuries on him. They used wooden planks and locked him inside a dog cage,” she said.
The assault was so vicious that Samuel was left with multiple injuries, and his phone was confiscated to prevent him from seeking help.
His mother was even deceived into coming to the scene, only to be denied access to her son for two hours.
Fortunately, a family friend and a human rights organization intervened, leading to Samuel’s rescue and the filing of a formal complaint with the Delta State Police Command.
The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice, with human rights activist Victor Ojei demanding immediate investigation and prosecution of the Celestine men.
