Fatimatu Fires Back: NDC’s Vanderpuye Called Out Over DRIP Appointment
  • Fatimatu Abubakar criticized Nii Lante Vanderpuye for benefiting from DRIP, a programme he previously opposed.
  • She argued that his current role wouldn’t exist without the initiative introduced by former President Akufo-Addo.
  • The comments were made during an interview on Wontumi TV.
  • DRIP remains active under the current NDC government, with plans for expansion.
  • The exchange has sparked renewed debate over political hypocrisy and legacy politics.

Former Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar has taken aim at Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the current National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), accusing him of benefiting from a government initiative he once opposed.

During a recent interview on Wontumi TV, Fatimatu pointed out that Vanderpuye had previously questioned the legacy of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, including the DRIP initiative. Yet today, he holds a prominent role within that very programme — a position she argues wouldn’t exist without the former president’s administration.

Her comments have reignited debate over political double standards, with critics noting how opposition figures often criticize policies they later benefit from. DRIP, which was launched under the previous government, continues to be a key infrastructure programme under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership.
