A major fire outbreak that swept through the Agatex Paint Factory in Ho has been brought under control, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.

In an update posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, February 15, the Service described the incident as a “ferocious fire” that gutted the factory premises, highlighting the intensity and destructive nature of the blaze.

Firefighters mounted a coordinated operation to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining properties.

The factory, which deals in paint production and related materials, is believed to have housed highly flammable substances, contributing to the rapid escalation of the fire.

Thick smoke and flames reportedly engulfed large sections of the facility, raising concerns among nearby residents and business operators.

Through what the GNFS termed a ‘concerted and well-coordinated effort’, fire crews were able to bring the situation under control.

The Service indicated that cooling operations are currently underway to extinguish remaining hotspots and manage residual pockets of fire.
