The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a commercial and domestic fire outbreak at Darkuman Cable and Wireless near the Waterworks on Wednesday, February 4.

The Service said it received a distress call at 5:19 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighters from the Industrial Area Fire Station, which served as the base pump and arrived at the scene two minutes later to find a well-developed fire.

The blaze had spread across several wooden and metal containers used for both residential and commercial activities.

Reinforcements from the Dansoman, Anyaa and Abelemkpe Fire Stations were deployed to support the operation.

Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control by 7:20 pm and fully extinguished the fire at 9:04 pm, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures, which were successfully salvaged.

An unspecified number of containers were destroyed in the incident, but no injuries or fatalities were recorded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
