Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have contained a flame that ravaged a part of the first-floor extension at the Kumasi Kejetia City Market.
In a report filed on Tuesday, the Service said the incident happened on Sunday, February 8, 2026, near Store Number F-3470.
“The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a call, after which the GNFS crew took over and completely doused the fire, preventing further spread,” it reported.
Confirming zero casualties, it said some quantities of Calcium Carbide and Powerzone were partially burnt, with additional items salvaged.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
