Five New Envoys Commissioned | Opemsuo

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned five new envoys in accordance with Article 74 (1) of the Constitution.

At the Jubilee House on February 9, 2026, they took the Oaths of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy.

The envoys include Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Saleh Sinare and Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Mali, Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed (Rtd.).

Also were the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Cuba, Mr Kofi Attor, High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Malta, Mrs Regina Appiah-Sam and Ambassador-in-Situ, Mr Emmanuel Opeku.

In his address, the President highlighted the changes in the international system, driven by geopolitical tensions, economic realignments, technological disruptions and climate pressures and urged the Envoys to be guided by the national interest of Ghana to make an impact on national growth through diplomacy.

He emphasised that the Key Performance Indicators for Heads of Mission are a strategic tool to advance growth. He tasked the Envoys to actively promote tourism, facilitate innovation, attract strategic investments and uphold accountability in all their engagements, ensuring that their work produces tangible results for the nation, including job creation, trade expansion, investment opportunities and sustainable partnerships.

On behalf of the Envoys, the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Mali, Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed, expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in them.

He assured that the Envoys would serve with patriotism, diligence and commitment in the discharge of their mandate to reflect positively on the reputation of Ghana.

Present at the ceremony were the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff, Honourable Julius Debrah, Deputy Chief of Staff, Honourable Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP) and other senior Government officials.
