Speaking in an interview on PrimeTime on Joy Prime with Andy Dosty, he recounted how he believes he has been sidelined by the political party he supported for years.
“The past eight years have been particularly painful because I expected that my contributions, experience, and creativity would have been recognised or utilised in some way,” he said.
He added, “For eight years my NPP has never done anything for me. It’s painful. I am pained.”
Fred Kyei Mensah, who has played a major role in Ghana’s music and production landscape for decades, explained that people with creative skills like himself could be useful to governments and political organisations if given the opportunity.
However, he lamented that despite his experience and willingness to contribute, he was never given the chance to serve in any meaningful capacity.
“You have someone like me who has a creative mind. I needed just a van to execute an idea I had for secondary schools, they didn’t give it to me,” he stated.
According to him, even technical roles in which he is highly skilled were never offered to him.
“They never even called me to come play for their event as a sound engineer, to even come and fix a wire,” he said.
Fred Kyei Mensah further revealed that one of the most painful moments came when his studio suffered flood damage. He said the incident significantly affected his work, yet he received no support from the party he had long supported.
“When my studio got flooded, the NPP did nothing for me,” he lamented.
