Former NACOC boss hauled before court for stealing, causing harm and child seizure

The former Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) of Ghana, Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, and two associates have been dragged before a Kumasi Circuit Court on five counts, including stealing, assault, and exposing children to harm.

Mr Adu-Amanfoh, who served as head of the NACOC under the erstwhile New Patriotic Party administration, is accused of deploying armed operatives from his office to settle scores with his estranged wife, Linda Adu-Amanfoh, the complainant.

The complainant accused the former NACOC boss of directing armed men to accost her and forcibly wrest their children from her custody in Kumasi.

The complainant in the case is Linda Adu-Amanfoh, the estranged wife of the former NACCOC boss, Mr Adu-Amanfoh. Court documents say that though she reported the incident to the authorities, her husband was not immediately arrested.

Appearing in the dock on Wednesday with the accused, Mr. Adu-Amanfoh, are Prosper Aproma and Abraham Tetteh, said to be his associates.

The two are accomplices alleged to have participated in the operations.

All three accused faced five counts of causing harm, assault, exposing children to danger, disturbing public peace, and stealing. But the accused persons pleaded not guilty to all charges against them.

Their lawyers were in court on Wednesday to apply for bail when the case was first called.

But prosecution, however, opposed a self-recognizance arrangement, insisting on sureties as a condition for any bail application.

While the first accused person, Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh, was subsequently granted Ghc 50,000 bail with two sureties, the second accused and third accused were each granted Ghc 40,000 bail with two sureties.

Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to May 13, 2026.
