A new stage production, Fowl Play, by Ghanaian playwright Kutabody Alone, is set to thrill theatre lovers on a mix of humour and hard-hitting social commentary when it hits the stage on April 10, 2026, at the University of Ghana Drama Studio, Legon, Accra.

The play, a production of Kuta Images promises an engaging evening that mirrors the everyday realities of dishonesty in society, all wrapped in comedy and relatable storytelling.

Building on the success of his previous production, In God We Trust, which left audience in stitches, Kutabody Alone in this production explores some of the unfair behaviours displayed in society, particularly focusing on cheating, manipulation and dishonesty in workplaces and personal interactions.

“The play really speaks to how people cut corners, deceive others and sometimes take advantage of situations for personal gain. These are things we see every day, but we often ignore or laugh off. This production brings them right in front of us.”

Set entirely in a poultry farm, the play uses the environment as a metaphor for the modern workplace. Within this setting, characters will navigate power struggles, betrayal and survival, reflecting the complex dynamics many people experience in real life.

“The poultry farm represents the workplace. It’s a space where different characters interact, and through those interactions, we see blackmail, dishonesty and all kinds of questionable behaviour unfold. It’s funny, but it’s also very real.”

He added that the title Fowl Play is a deliberate play on words, blending humour with deeper meaning.

“It’s my way of hinting at the kind of story audiences should expect. It sounds playful, but it also suggests something shady is going on. There’s a mix of comedy and ‘foul play’ in the story, so the title captures both sides perfectly.”

The play features a youthfulk cast including Kafui Nyaku Cobbah, Edna Aryetey, Erica Bansah, Kwabena Hinson among others expected to deliver strong performances filled with energy, humour and sharp social insight.
