Prices of petroleum products have increased at fuel stations across the country for the second pricing window of February 2026.
The new prices, announced by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), took effect on Monday February 16, 2026.
Under the NPA’s directive, no Oil Marketing Company (OMC) is allowed to sell petrol below GH¢10.24 per litre. Diesel is selling at a minimum of GH¢11.34 for the same period.
This represents a slight increase compared to the first pricing window in February, when petrol was selling at about GH¢9.99 per litre.
Here’s how much fuel is selling on February 2
The increase has been attributed mainly to the marginal depreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and rising international Brent crude oil prices.
Checks by GhanaWeb Business on Monday morning showed that several fuel stations have already adjusted their prices in line with the new directive. Star Oil is selling petrol at GH¢10.24, diesel at GH¢11.97, and RON 95 at GH¢12.97.
GOIL has also revised its prices, with petrol selling at GH¢10.24, diesel at GH¢12.53, and Super XP 95 at GH¢13.35.
Some smaller fuel stations have implemented even higher prices. Petrolsol, for instance, is selling petrol at GH¢10.98 and diesel at GH¢11.98.
According to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), this is the second fuel price increase recorded in 2026.
Ghana’s fuel price floor is the minimum pump price set by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), which prevents Oil Marketing Companies from selling fuel below a fixed level.
The policy aims to protect smaller firms and ensure stability in the petroleum sector, but critics say it limits competition and may keep fuel prices higher than necessary.
Impact on consumers
The latest adjustment is expected to increase transportation and operational costs for businesses and commuters. Commercial drivers may pass on the higher fuel costs to passengers through transport fare increases, while delivery and logistics expenses for businesses could also rise.
For households, the fuel price hike could contribute to higher prices of goods and services, as transport costs often influence food prices and general market expenses. Motorists and car owners are therefore likely to spend more on fuel in the coming weeks if prices remain elevated.
