The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has firmly refuted reports circulating in sections of the media alleging that nearly 60 per cent of applicants who recently underwent medical screening for military recruitment tested positive for HIV.
In a statement signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the Armed Forces described the claims as entirely false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them.
According to the statement, the medical screening exercise is still in progress, and no outcomes have been finalised or released, contrary to assertions being widely shared.
“The medical screening process is ongoing, and no results have been declared at this time,” the statement clarified.
GAF further disclosed that it is taking steps to trace the source of the report, describing it as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.
The Armed Forces also cautioned media practitioners, particularly bloggers, vloggers and online content creators, to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publication.
It stressed that disseminating unverified claims not only undermines public trust but also unfairly tarnishes the integrity of the recruitment process.
