Gender Minister Visits Girl Whose Leg Was Allegedly Dipped in Hot Water by Boarding School Teacher

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited a Class Two pupil whose leg was allegedly dipped in a hot water by a boarding schoolteacher while treating a fungal infection.

She expressed the government’s sympathy and assured the family of the State’s commitment to Jalila’s safety, recovery and future.

The Minister described the incident as unfortunate and reaffirmed her commitment to ensure the child receives comprehensive medical, psychosocial and welfare support.

The Minister further stressed that the Ministry would follow the case to its conclusion.

She emphasised that “anybody who harms a child harms the nation” and assured the family that the law will take its full course irrespective of who is involved.

As part of the visit, the Minister made donations to support the family, including a cash amount of Gh¢5,000, food items, and household supplies.

The family expressed gratitude to the Minister for the visit and support extended but appealed for swift justice in the case.
