Former GFA Vice president, George Afriyie

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, has firmly dismissed reports linking him to the Chief Executive Officer role at Asante Kotoko.

Speculation had intensified in recent weeks that the experienced football administrator was being considered to lead the Ghana Premier League giants ahead of the 2026/27 season.

But speaking on the matter, George Afriyie moved quickly to set the record straight.

“No doubt, Asante Kotoko is a big club with a rich history but at the moment, I am not in the race to become the new CEO of the club,” he stated.

He acknowledged that discussions may have taken place in certain circles but insisted that no formal approach has been made to him.

“Perhaps there have been conversations around some quarters, but as it stands, no one has spoken to me to become the Chief Executive Officer of the club. I have friends there, but nothing has been discussed,” he added.
