Ghana will roll out the red carpet on Sunday, November 2, 2025, when German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrives in the country for a three-day official visit. The trip follows an invitation from President John Dramani Mahama and aims to bolster the already strong diplomatic and economic ties between Accra and Berlin.
The main activities begin on Monday in the capital, where a formal ceremony featuring a Guard of Honour will take place at Jubilee House. Closed-door discussions between the two heads of state will follow, before their teams engage in wide-ranging talks focused on investment, trade expansion, technological cooperation, and broader development plans. A state luncheon at the Presidential Banquet Hall will crown the day’s main diplomatic agenda.
Steinmeier will later tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he is expected to honor Ghana’s founding leader with a wreath-laying ceremony. The significance of innovation remains prominent in the visit, as he meets with young IT professionals to explore collaborative opportunities. The evening will wrap up with a reception hosted by the German Embassy.
On Tuesday, the visiting President will head to Kumasi. His schedule there includes a groundbreaking event at Kumasi Technical Institute marking a new development project supported by Germany. He will also engage with the leadership and academic community at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to further promote education and research partnerships.
Additional engagements include a stop at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research and a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at Manhyia Palace, underscoring the cultural dimension of the historic relationship between the two nations.
Steinmeier’s departure is set for Tuesday evening, concluding a visit analysts believe could drive increased German interest in Ghana’s technology and manufacturing sectors, while opening the way for deeper long-term cooperation.
