The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reminded all Regional Directors of the statutory recognition of the upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr and Easter holidays, scheduled for 20th and 23rd March, and 3rd and 6th April, respectively.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 17, Schools across the country are expected to observe these holidays, enabling staff and students to participate fully in these significant national and religious festivities.

GES emphasised that adherence to the public holiday arrangements is mandatory, ensuring that all schools comply with the official calendar and allow their communities to mark the occasions appropriately.

Acknowledging that some students in boarding facilities may opt not to travel home during the holiday period, the Service has authorised schools to permit such students to remain on campus.

School heads are required to make suitable arrangements to safeguard the welfare, supervision, and general wellbeing of these students while they stay on school premises.

Regional Directors have been instructed to communicate this directive to all Heads of Schools in their jurisdictions via Metro, Municipal, and District Directors.

They are further expected to ensure that adequate measures are in place for the safe accommodation, feeding, and supervision of boarding students who remain on campus during the holidays.

“Your cooperation in ensuring the smooth implementation of this directive is highly appreciated,” the statement concluded.
