Seidu Issifu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, held a productive bilateral meeting with Jürgen Schneider, Director General of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, on February 19, 2026, in Vienna.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the UNIDO Climate Adaptation and Industrial Resilience Forum 2026, was facilitated by Ghana’s Ambassador to Austria, Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyemang.

During the meeting, Minister Seidu presented Ghana’s vision for climate response measures and expressed Ghana’s readiness to collaborate with Austria on experience sharing and tackling climate change.

Schneider provided an overview of Austria’s climate governance structure, highlighting the country’s efforts to address extreme weather events, deforestation, and glacier melting.

He outlined Austria’s multi-governance approach to reducing emissions, which has achieved a 30% reduction.

The Director General expressed Austria’s willingness to collaborate with Ghana, sharing ideas and experiences to address climate change impacts in both countries.

This meeting underscores Ghana’s commitment to international cooperation on climate action and highlights opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration with Austria.
