Ghana has begun processes toward the construction of the Volivo Bridge, a landmark infrastructure project that will become the tallest road bridge in the country, in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Volivo Bridge is designed as a 540-metre cable-stayed structure featuring twin towers rising to a height of 51 metres.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to significantly improve road connectivity and transportation efficiency between the Volta and Oti regions.

The project forms part of Ghana’s broader strategy to strengthen critical infrastructure and open up regional economic corridors by easing the movement of people, goods, and services.

Improved connectivity between the two regions is anticipated to boost trade, enhance access to social services, and support local development.

JICA’s involvement underscores Japan’s continued commitment to supporting sustainable and resilient infrastructure development across Africa.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision of delivering high-quality engineering solutions that promote long-term economic growth and regional integration.

When completed, the Volivo Bridge is expected to stand as a major engineering achievement and a symbol of Ghana’s drive toward modern, inclusive infrastructure development.
