The government of Ghana has issued a condemnation following a drone incident near Dubai International Airport that left two Ghanaian nationals injured earlier today.

In a press release dated Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it had been formally notified by authorities in the United Arab Emirates regarding the attack, which targeted the vicinity of one of the world’s busiest travel hubs.

Describing the event as a serious endangerment to civilian lives and essential infrastructure, the government emphasised the grave risks such actions pose to public safety. It further stressed the necessity of safeguarding both civilians and the integrity of international transit points.

In an immediate diplomatic response, Ghana’s Ambassador to the UAE led a joint delegation from the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai to visit the injured citizens at their hospital bedside.

Officials have since reported that the wounds sustained are not critical, and the individuals are expected to make a full recovery. The government has urged the public to remain calm while it continues to provide consular support and liaises with local Emirati authorities.

The Ministry stated it is maintaining a close watch on the evolving situation and remains in constant engagement with the relevant bodies.

Beyond the immediate welfare of its citizens, the government has thrown its weight behind broader international efforts, actively supporting ongoing consultations at the United Nations aimed at passing a resolution to push for a cessation of hostilities.

Reaffirming its steadfast dedication to the protection of Ghanaians abroad, the Ministry urged all nationals residing in the Gulf region to exercise heightened vigilance and strictly adhere to safety directives issued by both Ghanaian missions and local law enforcement.
