The third edition of the Ghana Dance Industry Awards is scheduled for April 18, at the National Theatre in Accra to celebrate Ghanaian dancers who have excelled over the past year.

Speaking in an interview with Asieduwa Akumia, the Golden Girl, on the Prime Morning Show on March 13, 2026, the Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, Robert Klah, said the awards aim to recognise dancers who are making an impact while projecting creatives who use dance to promote arts, entertainment, and spirituality in Ghana, across Africa, and globally.

The awards ceremony, organised by Charterhouse, the producers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), features several categories, including Group of the Year, which honours the most outstanding dance group; Junior Dancer, which celebrates young dancers; The Next Big Act for the discovery of the year; Traditional Dance Ensemble of the Year for traditional dancers; the Dance Ambassador Award for dancers promoting Ghana internationally; and Dance Anthem of the Year for songs that got Ghanaians dancing.

Robert Klah also revealed that additional categories will be introduced in the fourth edition of the Ghana Dance Awards next year.

He further called on investors and brands to support the initiative, noting that the arts sector often struggles to attract sponsorship.

“I think the arts is one of the toughest areas of challenge for people to consider for sponsorship, but we all know what dance has done, and there are quite a few people who are using dancers as influencers, so we invite them to use this opportunity to jump on.
I’d like to open the doors to any brands or individuals out there,” he said.

Mr Klah added that nominees for the awards will be announced next week, explaining that selections were based on submissions and research conducted by the organisers.

“Next week, we are looking at releasing our nominees. Submissions have already come through, and we have also done some research, so we are hoping to share that with Ghanaians,” he said.
