The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the successful evacuation of Ghanaians from Israel following recent developments in the country.

According to a statement posted on the Minister’s Facebook page, all Ghanaians who requested assistance from the government have been safely evacuated and returned home.

The evacuation exercise also included some diplomatic staff from Ghana’s Embassy in Tel Aviv, although a limited number of essential personnel have been retained to provide critical consular services.

Mr Ablakwa expressed gratitude to both Israel and Egypt for their cooperation, which he said contributed significantly to the success of the operation.

He warmly welcomed the evacuees on their arrival in Ghana and assured that the government remains committed to prioritising the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians.

The Minister further indicated that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama would continue to monitor the situation closely and undertake additional evacuation efforts where necessary to protect citizens abroad.

The latest developments follow the 2026 Iran War, which began on February 28, 2026. Currently, there is an ongoing large-scale military conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Now in its third week, the war has caused significant casualties, global economic disruption and an escalating regional crisis.
