Ghana High Commission in UK mobilises diaspora investment through business breakfast

The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom convened a high‑level Business Breakfast Meeting on 26 January 2026 to encourage diaspora capital mobilisation and strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at boosting investment in Ghana.

Organised under the theme, “Harnessing Diaspora Capital and Partnerships to Drive Investment to Ghana,” the event brought together Ghanaian diaspora business leaders, investors, financial institutions, fintech operators, and policy stakeholders, as part of the High Commission’s ongoing economic diplomacy efforts.

The High Commissioner, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to deeper engagement with the diaspora, urging a shift from traditional remittances toward structured investments that create jobs, add value, and promote long-term economic growth.

Several speakers provided key insights on investment opportunities. Clara B. Arthur, CEO of the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), highlighted Ghana’s expanding fintech ecosystem and the progress on secure digital payments.

Diana Afriyie Addo, Head of Trade and Investment at the High Commission, detailed macroeconomic reforms, regulatory improvements, and priority sectors including agribusiness, infrastructure, Special Economic Zones, manufacturing, and textiles. Fuad Abubakar Mohammed, Head of Ghana Cocoa Marketing Company (GCMC) UK Ltd., spoke on opportunities in cocoa processing, logistics, and value addition.

The meeting concluded with a networking session that allowed participants to explore collaborative investment opportunities.

The High Commission assured stakeholders of its continued commitment to facilitating dialogue, partnerships, and initiatives that leverage diaspora capital, expertise, and innovation to advance Ghana’s economic development.
