The Ghana Immigration Service has announced plans to carry out an enforcement operation in the Greater Accra Region this week aimed at safeguarding public welfare and ensuring compliance with immigration laws.

The Service says the targeted street sweep will focus on rescuing vulnerable populations, including children and distressed individuals, from exploitative begging activities.

It will also involve the apprehension of unregistered immigrants as part of efforts to enforce Ghana’s immigration regulations.

According to the Service, the exercise builds on feedback from a previous operation and underscores its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, combating human trafficking, and maintaining orderly public spaces.

The Ghana Immigration Service noted that specific locations and operational details have been withheld for now to protect the integrity of the exercise and ensure the safety of those involved.

A comprehensive media release is expected to be issued after the operation.
