Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has stated that Ghana’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will seek an international arrest warrant through Interpol for a Russian national accused of sharing sexually explicit images and videos of Ghanaian women without their consent.

The decision follows formal complaints by several women who say they were featured in a viral video involving the suspect.

According to the minister, the complaints prompted swift investigations by the authorities.

Sam George revealed that officials moved quickly to confirm the identity of the man after widespread speculation on social media.

Checks conducted using his passport established that he is indeed a Russian citizen, putting to rest earlier rumours about his nationality.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the minister condemned the alleged acts in strong terms, describing them as “atrocious conduct” that violates Ghanaian law, undermines the privacy of the victims and disregards their dignity.

Beyond the criminal investigation, the government has also taken diplomatic steps.

Authorities summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ghana to formally communicate their concerns and demand accountability over the alleged unlawful behaviour.

The controversy erupted after a video circulated widely online showing a man identified as Yaytseslav interacting with Ghanaian women.

Some of the women were later reported to have accompanied him to his hotel. As the footage spread across social media platforms, it sparked outrage among the public and renewed calls for firm action against online sexual exploitation.
