Ghana, Nigeria To Tackle Cybercrime Through Bilateral Cooperation

Ghana and Nigeria have explored effective ways to address upscaling incidents of Nigerian involvement in cybercrimes in Ghana.

This inspired a meeting between Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, and the Nigerian High Commissioner, Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban, on February 16, 2026.

The leaders reviewed the outcomes of Ghana’s recent crackdown on cybercrime and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation to safeguard the digital space.

Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Iban expressed concern over the arrests and pledged to tackle the root causes, emphasising the need to protect law-abiding Nigerians and strengthen border security.

He noted the strong relationship between Ghana and Nigeria and urged Nigerians to be good ambassadors of their country.

The meeting highlighted the commitment of both nations to combat cybercrime and promote a secure digital environment.
