The Ghana Police Service has taken action against individuals responsible for spreading false news about the disappearance of their genitals, causing widespread fear and panic among the public.
According to police reports, nine individuals have been apprehended following investigations that revealed the claims to be entirely fabricated.
The arrests were made in various locations across Ghana, with six individuals detained in Kasoa, two in Ashaiman, and one in Nkawkaw. These individuals had allegedly made false claims about the disappearance of their genitals, sparking unfounded fears and leading to attacks on innocent citizens.
Following thorough police investigations, including medical examinations, it was determined that the claims were baseless and aimed at causing public unrest.
As a result, five of the arrested individuals have been arraigned before court, with three remanded into police custody and two granted bail. The remaining individuals are currently on police inquiry bail and will soon face court proceedings.
In a Facebook post, the Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to upholding law and order and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
They have warned against the dissemination of false information that could incite fear and disrupt public peace. Citizens are urged to verify information before sharing it to prevent the spread of misinformation and avoid unnecessary panic in the community.
