A gold robbery that took place on July 15, 2025, near the town of Jukwa in Ghana’s Western Region has unraveled into a tangled web of betrayal, with three men now in police custody. The theft involved a Toyota Hilux pickup moving gold concentrate from a mining location toward Wassa Akropong. Unexpectedly, the journey was interrupted when the vehicle, occupied by a driver, a security guard, and another passenger, was intercepted and robbed.
Authorities launched an immediate operation, resulting in the arrest of a man identified as Foster Peprah, who is believed to be a small-scale miner. His capture at the scene opened the door to deeper revelations. During questioning, he pointed fingers at an accomplice named Isaac, who fled during the ambush and remains out of reach. More surprisingly, Foster claimed he was not acting independently but had been brought into the plan by none other than the vehicle’s own driver.
Following this lead, the police apprehended the driver, Kofi Gyamfi, who didn’t deny his involvement but redirected blame toward the onboard security personnel. According to him, the mastermind behind the scheme was the security guard, Bashiru, who was later located and arrested at Wassa Gyedua.
The three men—Foster, Kofi, and Bashiru—are currently in the custody of the Western Central Regional Police Command and are providing further assistance with the ongoing case. Meanwhile, law enforcement continues efforts to capture Isaac, the fourth individual believed to have taken part in the attack.
