President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that Ghana is now ranked among the top 10 economies in Africa, following improved economic conditions and renewed investor confidence.

Speaking in Parliament during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2026, President Mahama noted that the ranking reflects sustained efforts to stabilize the economy.

According to him, Ghana’s economic resilience stands strong among its peers on the continent due to prudent financial management, strategic investments in key sectors, and policies designed to stimulate productivity and private sector expansion.

“In 2025, Ghana’s GDP is expected to reach $113 billion, an increase from $83 billion at the end of 2024. This has placed Ghana among the top 10 economies in Africa. Mr. Speaker, average GDP growth for the first three quarters of 2025 is reported at 6.1 percent, but growth means nothing without discipline,” he said.

He noted that recent gains in inflation control, employment growth, and increased investor confidence have contributed to Ghana’s rising profile on the continent.

The President added that the country’s expanding industrial base, strengthened agricultural output, and growing services sector have further supported economic momentum.

He said that while the ranking is encouraging, the government remains focused on consolidating these gains through continued reforms, infrastructure development, and youth employment initiatives.
