A Ghanaian man identified as Albert Kesse is feared dead after travelling to Canada aboard Ethiopian Airlines, sparking widespread concern among his family and the Ghanaian community.

Albert’s wife, visibly distraught and dressed in black, appeared on Oyerepa Afutuo on Oyerepa TV on Wednesday, January 28, to appeal for public support in locating her husband, whether dead or alive.

The grieving woman, who is based in Kumasi, disclosed that her husband informed her on Friday, January 24, of his plans to relocate to Canada. He subsequently travelled to Accra for onward departure.

She recounted that she spoke with her husband moments before take-off.

“He informed me that he had boarded the plane and asked me to take good care of the kids, promising to call when he arrived,” she said.

However, her joy soon turned into worry when he failed to make contact after the expected arrival time. This prompted her to contact an agent who had assisted Albert with his travel documents.

According to the wife, the agent later informed her that Albert had been rushed to a hospital upon arrival in Canada. Since then, all efforts to reach him have been unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the President of the Ghanaian Community in Canada, Mr Duodu, who called into the programme, stated that reports of a Ghanaian man’s death in Canada had been circulating but remained unconfirmed.

He added that checks with the Ghanaian Embassy in Canada revealed that no official report had been filed regarding the death of any Ghanaian national.

As investigations continue, Albert’s family remains in anguish, hoping for clarity on his fate.
