The man, believed to be Ghanaian, and his wife of Nigerian origin are in police custody
A heart-wrenching and devastating news has emerged of how a couple has been arrested in Tripoli, Libya, for torturing a boy in a dastardly way till his death.
The couple, believed to be of Ghanaian and Nigerian origin, are reported to have brutally tortured the boy – an orphan, until he died.
According to details shared by The Libya Observer on its Facebook page, the couple were arrested on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
“Police in Tripoli have arrested a foreign couple for torturing and starving to death an orphaned child,” the post read.
The post was accompanied by photos of the man and woman who are said to have committed the crime.
Additional information gathered by GhanaWeb online indicates that the man (believed to be called Adams) is a Ghanaian, while his wife (believed to be called Aisha) is Nigerian.
While there has not been any official statement to substantiate these details yet, with other details still sketchy, some online users who claim to know the couple have stated things like the deceased child’s mother had also died in 2024 “under questionable circumstances.”
Another online user under one of the posts online also claimed that the boy’s father also died in 2025.
“Aisha, you and your husband why you do this thing,” a user on Facebook by name Addea Issah, who claimed to personally know the couple, wrote.
GhanaWeb is making attempts to get an official communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the matter and will keep readers updated.
