Ghanaian pastors must stop election prophecies - Kwaku Manu

Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu has recently called on pastors in Ghana to refrain from engaging in political activities and to concentrate on their spiritual duties.

During an interview on UTV’s United Showbiz, monitored by News & Vibes, Manu expressed his unease regarding the growing involvement of some religious leaders in political campaigning, suggesting that this trend could sow discord among their congregations.

He noted that in earlier times, pastors would deliver messages or revelations without the expectation of political alignment, allowing individuals to choose whether to accept their guidance.

However, he highlighted a shift in the role of pastors, stating that many now publicly endorse political parties, which has led to divisions within church communities.

Kwaku Manu emphasized the importance of pastors remaining neutral and focused on their primary role of shepherding their congregations.

He believes that this would help maintain unity and prevent confusion among church members who may have differing political views.

In addition to his concerns about pastors, the actor also took the opportunity to address the youth of Ghana, urging them to avoid any form of violence during the upcoming December 7 elections.

He expressed his worry that aggressive behavior could result in tragic consequences, including loss of life, and called for peaceful participation in the electoral process.

Kwaku Manu’s statements reflect a broader concern about the intersection of religion and politics in Ghana, as he advocates for a return to the core spiritual responsibilities of church leaders while promoting peace and civility in the political arena.

“These days, some pastors have turned into political campaigners. In the past, if a pastor received a message or revelation about someone, they would simply share it, leaving the individual to decide whether to believe it or not. But now, pastors are openly supporting political parties, and this is causing divisions within churches.”
