The Ministry for the Interior has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday February 14, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, described the information received from Burkina Faso as “disturbing”.
He indicated that the attack targeted a military camp in Titao, where installations were damaged during the assault, according to local reports.
“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026,” the statement said.
The Ministry said the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso was liaising with Burkinabe authorities to visit the scene, gather details and assist in identifying any Ghanaians affected.
Titao, in northern Burkina Faso, has faced repeated armed attacks in recent years and has been under siege by Islamist militants since 2019.
The Ministry said more information would be communicated to the public as details become available.
