Professor Joshua Alabi, the campaign manager for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has stated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s failed economic theories and the Akufo-Addo government’s poor performance make the New Patriotic Party (NPP) less of a threat to the NDC’s victory in the upcoming elections.
Speaking to Citi News as monitored by News & Vibes, Professor Alabi expressed confidence in John Mahama’s chances, citing his impressive track record of infrastructural development during his time in office. He dismissed Dr. Bawumia’s economic theories, stating that they have not yielded any positive outcomes and that Ghanaians have lost trust in his promises.
Professor Alabi referenced Dr. Bawumia’s unfulfilled promises, including the “one village, one dam” initiative, “one constituency, one million dollars,” “one child, one chocolate,” and “one child, one laptop.” He emphasized that these failed promises have left Ghanaians disillusioned with Dr. Bawumia’s economic theory.
With his reappointment as campaign manager, Professor Alabi is confident that the NDC will emerge victorious, given John Mahama’s proven track record and the NPP’s failed leadership.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, once hailed as one of Ghana’s finest economists, has seen his reputation tarnished by his failed economic theories and unfulfilled promises. His rise to the office of Vice President was largely due to his impressive financial and economic expertise, showcased during his tenure as the second deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo, recognizing Dr. Bawumia’s exceptional track record, selected him as his running mate for the 2008 general elections. At the time, Dr. Bawumia was a relatively unknown face in Ghana’s political landscape, but his economic prowess made him an attractive choice.
