The Embassy of Ghana in Doha, United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a security advisory, encouraging all Ghanaians to remain indoors.
It urged that citizens take shelter until further notice while issuing emergency response contacts.
“We urge everyone to stay away from military sites, remain indoors, avoid overcrowded areas for any exposure to danger and keep essentials supplies like medication and food,” it said in the advisory issued on Saturday.
It comes in the face of heightened security in the Middle East as the United States and Israel have jointly launched an attack on Iran.
US President Donald Trump said the joint attacks were aimed at “eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime”.
“A short time ago, the US military began a major combat operation in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime,” he said, according to BBC.
As revenge, BBC reports that Iran is targeting Israeli military bases and numerous Gulf Arab states that host US military assets, including Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
The UAE’s state news agency reported one person was killed in Abu Dhabi after Iranian missiles were intercepted.
