Wizkid has reached a landmark in the digital music industry, solidifying his status as one of Africa’s most influential artists.
According to global music analytics firm Chart Masters, the Nigerian performer’s catalog has now racked up over 20 billion streams on audio-on-demand platforms — a first for any African artist.
The record includes all streams from his own releases as well as collaborations. A significant chunk of the total is credited to “One Dance,” the 2016 international hit by Drake that featured Wizkid and Kyla.
That track alone has amassed more than 3.6 billion Spotify streams and became the first song on the platform to pass the one-billion stream mark, earning it a place in Guinness World Records.
This global achievement follows his earlier recognition in the UK, where Wizkid was honored with the Brit Billion Award after surpassing one billion streams in that market — another unprecedented feat for an African act.
Beyond streaming, Wizkid’s reach continues to grow. With global record sales exceeding 65 million units, he remains Afrobeats’ most commercially successful artist to date. His impact on the international music scene continues to redefine what is possible for African artists in the digital era.
