Organisers of the Ghana Music Awards USA (GMA-USA), Don’s Music Production have announced that nominees for this year’s edition will be unveiled today, Thursday, April 30, at Octopus, Kumasi City Mall at 7:00 p.m.
The unveiling ceremony is a prelude to the main awards scheme, which continues to spotlight Ghanaian musical talent both at home and in the diaspora.
Earlier, nominations were opened for the 2026 edition, with submissions closing on February 2. According to the scheme’s guidelines, songs eligible for consideration must have been released between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
He disclosed that this year’s scheme will feature 33 categories, with 24 dedicated to Ghanaian musicians based in the United States and nine reserved for Ghana-based artistes.
Don D also expressed optimism about the growing global appeal of Ghanaian music, urging industry stakeholders to support the initiative.
“The global music space is ripe for Ghanaian talent to take centre stage. Let us rally behind our artistes, provide them with the necessary support, and celebrate their unique sound.
“Together, we can propel Ghanaian music to unprecedented heights and make our mark on the international music scene,” he said.
He further revealed that the main awards ceremony will take place on June 26, 2026, at the Delaware Valley enclave ahead of the Ghana-Croatia group game in Philadelphia.
Gospel musician Empress Gifty was crowned Artiste of the Year at the 6th edition, held on August 16, 2025, at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In addition, organisers recently honoured a number of distinguished individuals as Life Patrons of the scheme for their contributions to the growth and promotion of Ghanaian music in the diaspora.
The recognition is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated long-standing commitment to advancing Ghanaian music, particularly in the United States and on the global stage.
