“God Should Kill Them!” – Rev. Mensah’s Furious Attack on Galamsey Operators

Rev. Dr. Steve Mensah, leader of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), has issued a scathing condemnation of illegal mining, describing it as an act of “mass murder” and calling for divine intervention against those perpetuating it.

During an impassioned sermon in Accra, the respected pastor slammed the widespread destruction of Ghana’s natural resources, particularly its water bodies and forest reserves, blaming both local and foreign actors, including political leaders, traditional authorities, and law enforcement officials, for facilitating the environmental crisis.

Mensah expressed grave concerns over the contamination of water sources due to illegal mining activities, noting that harmful chemicals, including mercury, have been found in the blood of children living near mining sites.

He emphasized that this situation poses long-term health risks, including cancer and deformities, which he equated to mass killing.

The pastor also accused the government, both past and present, of negligence in enforcing laws against illegal mining, and he criticized the inaction of security forces. According to him, the government has the resources to address the issue but has failed to do so due to alleged corruption and political interests.

Rev. Mensah raised concerns about the involvement of foreign nationals, especially Chinese nationals, in illegal mining, suggesting that their operations are protected by armed security and political connections.

He highlighted the absurdity of foreigners being allowed to mine in Ghana’s forests and rivers, questioning the strength of the country’s legal and security systems.

Expressing his frustration, Rev. Mensah stated that while he is a religious leader, he could no longer stay silent in the face of the devastation caused by illegal mining.

He called on the government to take decisive action by arresting and deporting foreign nationals involved in galamsey, as well as holding accountable Ghanaians who enable the destruction of the country’s resources.

The pastor’s call for action comes amidst growing public outcry over the negative impacts of galamsey, which continues to destroy the environment, pollute water bodies, and harm the health of local communities.

Despite previous government efforts to tackle the issue, enforcement has been weak, and the damage persists.
