The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has demonstrated its commitment to healthcare support with a donation of GHS 81,940 to fund critical surgeries for two children at the Department of Surgery of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The funds were allocated to support urgent medical procedures for Judith Wosemeh and Jewel Awadzi. An amount of GHS 74,002 was used to cover the cost of Judith’s surgery, while GHS 7,938 was dedicated to Jewel’s treatment.

The donation was presented by Gloria Precious Ankomah, Head of the Special Intervention Programme at GoldBod, on behalf of the institution. It was received by Patrick Bankah, Head of the Department of Surgery at the hospital.

Receiving the support, Dr. Bankah expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that the funding would significantly ease the financial burden on the families and allow them to focus on the recovery of their children. He described the gesture as both impactful and life-saving.

The families of the beneficiaries also conveyed their gratitude, describing the assistance as a critical relief during a challenging period.

The intervention forms part of GoldBod’s broader commitment to national development through targeted social impact initiatives, particularly in key sectors such as healthcare delivery and support for vulnerable patients.
