Government Launches Investigation Into Helicopter Crash That Claimed Eight Lives Including Ministers

Ghana has been plunged into mourning following a military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region that left eight people dead, including two Cabinet Ministers, on Wednesday, August 6.

Highlife legend and presidential staffer Rex Omar has added his voice to calls for a full-scale investigation into the disaster, describing the incident as an unprecedented and deeply painful loss for the nation.

Speaking during a flower-laying and candlelight tribute at the Ceremonial Garden near Jubilee House on Thursday, August 7, Omar reflected on his personal connection to the tragedy. He recalled recently speaking with Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, one of the victims, just days before the crash, with plans to meet on the very day the accident occurred. He urged the country to remain united and committed to continuing the work of those who died.
