The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and presidential aspirant, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said that the churches in Ghana have contributed so much to the development of Ghana.
According to him, instead of asking the church to pay taxes, the government should consider their contributions and pay them instead.
“My view on this is simple, in fact that is why they say that if you look at the work the church has done, in fact we should rather be paying them rather than paying tax. Unless you don’t understand the work the church has done.
He further went ahead to state some of the works of the church.
“Looking at the buildings, the way they try to put society society, the universities, hospitals and the schools, it’s massive, it’s just massive. Many churches have 100s of schools, massive. So I don’t see and i will not have a situation where they are taxing them, churches, we rather want to give churches incentives to support what govt is doing.
“I want us to be partners in a way that our development partners are … and we will give you incentives to do more.
