Gov’t targets 70% 5G coverage nationwide by Ghana’s 70th Anniversary – Sam George

The Minister for Communication and Digitalization, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has announced plans to achieve 70% population coverage of the 5G network by the country’s 70th anniversary next year.

Speaking at the National Communications Authority’s 30th anniversary launch, he emphasized that the 5G network will revolutionize how the government delivers services, making them more efficient, transparent, and productive.

Hon. Nartey George highlighted the need for Ghana to embrace the benefits of 5G technology, stating that it will redefine the country’s digital infrastructure.

He also noted that the government is investing in the youth through the digital space, aiming to harness their potential for national development.

Rev. Ing. Edmund Yorenkyi Fianko, Director-General of NCA, stated that the NCA’s responsibility is to ensure Ghana’s networks remain resilient, secure, inclusive, and capable of supporting innovation, economic growth, and national development.

He emphasized that the NCA remains committed to regulating with fairness, technical integrity, and foresight, always prioritizing public interest.
