Govt Vows Firm Action Against Firefighters Who Assaulted a Reporter

The government has vowed to take disciplinary actions against personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who physically assaulted a reporter during a fire outbreak at Kasoa New Market.

Identified as Samuel Addo, the reporter was captured in a viral video being beaten by fire officers.

He was stripped almost naked while being subjected to brute force.

It is reported that he was beaten up for taking video coverage of an altercation between the fire officers and traders.

Reacting to this, Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu condemned the act as  “unacceptable”.

“The attack on Class Media Group’s Samuel Addo by some personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service is most unacceptable, and I condemn the same.”

“Firm action will be taken against the rogue elements who carried out this attack,” it assured.
