Parts of Volta Region to experience load redistribution

Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) has announced a scheduled load redistribution exercise at the Asiekpe Substation on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

The exercise will result in the interruption of power supply to Ho, Asiekpe, Sogakope, Kpeve, Kpando, Kadjebi, and neighbouring communities between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The scheduled exercise would enable the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to do some work to improve the transmission systems to enhance power stability in the Volta and Oti Regions.

“The load redistribution exercise is expected to significantly improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply to consumers in the Volta and Oti Regions,” the release stated.

“GRIDCo and ECG sincerely apologise to all affected customers for any inconvenience this planned outage may cause and thank the public for their patience and cooperation,” it added.

GRIDCO further indicated that several activities have been scheduled to be undertaken, to improve power supply to the Volta and Oti Regions, due to the periodic intermittent supply and power fluctuations being experienced.

It stressed that the ultimate solution to the frequent power challenges is the provision of a dedicated power transmission line to serve the two regions.

“The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has noted with concern the challenges associated with power supply in the Volta and Oti Regions, which have historically not been served by a dedicated transmission line.

“While a long-term plan to construct a transmission line to serve the two regions is being pursued to sustainably address these challenges, interim measures are being implemented to improve the electricity supply immediately,” the release said.
