Pupils enjoying meals served at Yawsaekrom Primary School in the Sunyani Municipal, Bono Region
The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) says it has conducted a week-long monitoring and supervision exercise in selected districts across the Volta, Bono and Bono East regions to strengthen implementation and ensure compliance with approved operational standards.
The exercise, carried out from January 26 to 30, 2026, focused on the inspection of kitchen equipment used by caterers, assessment of eating utensils, and verification of hygiene and sanitation practices at various feeding centres.
The monitoring team also reviewed records on daily feeding activities, including beneficiary numbers and meal consistency, to promote accurate reporting and accountability.
Additionally, the team assessed the level of cooperation and coordination between caterers and school authorities, with particular attention to the timely preparation and serving of meals to avoid disruption of instructional hours.
According to the GSFP, the monitoring team observed commendable efforts by many caterers and schools in maintaining acceptable hygiene standards and ensuring that pupils were served nutritious meals. Caterers were provided with guidelines to address identified gaps and improve service delivery where necessary.
The GSFP commended all stakeholders for their support and cooperation towards the effective implementation and sustainability of the programme.
