The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially opened submissions for the 2026 edition of December in GH, inviting event organisers, cultural innovators and experience creators to help shape what has become one of Africa’s most anticipated festive tourism seasons.
In a press release, the Authority announced that this year’s edition will run from December 1, 2026 to January 3, 2027, promising a carefully curated cultural season that will showcase Ghana’s music, fashion, film, cuisine, heritage and creative arts.
December in GH has evolved beyond a calendar of entertainment activities into a major cultural movement under the Black Star Experience initiative, positioning Ghana as a global destination where culture is experienced and celebrated.
The Authority noted that the annual season continues to attract members of the diaspora, tourists, investors and cultural enthusiasts from across the world, while contributing significantly to Ghana’s tourism and entertainment sectors.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, described December in GH as more than just a celebration.
According to her, the initiative remains a strong platform for showcasing Ghana’s vibrant identity and cultural richness to the world.
She added that the 2026 edition is expected to be the biggest yet, with innovative events and experiences aimed at strengthening Ghana’s reputation as a leading destination for culture, entertainment and heritage tourism.
The release also indicated that this year’s edition will place greater emphasis on regional engagement, enhanced visitor experiences and purposeful storytelling to ensure nationwide impact.
Director of the International Affairs Secretariat, Annabelle McKenzie, stressed that the focus goes beyond simply organising events.
She explained that the goal is to create memorable experiences that shape how Ghana is experienced and remembered by visitors.
For the 2026 edition, organisers are seeking experience-driven concepts with strong production quality, cultural authenticity and audience engagement.
Selected proposals will be incorporated into the national December in GH campaign and promoted through the Ghana Tourism Authority’s local and international platforms.
Submissions officially close on Monday, July 13, 2026.
