The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has voiced serious concerns about the poor state of roads in Kumasi, citing the traffic challenges he experienced during the recent visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Tamale South Member of Parliament told Parliament that despite Kumasi being one of Ghana’s fastest-growing cities, road infrastructure has not kept pace with urban expansion.

During the German President’s visit on November 4, Iddrisu described navigating the city as “hectic,” especially while escorting the delegation from Prempeh International Airport to the Lancaster Hotel in Ahodwo, and later to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI).

He stressed the urgent need for government action to improve and expand road networks in Kumasi, warning that current infrastructure is insufficient to handle the growing traffic demands of the city.
