A Nigerian traveler has voiced his frustration after discovering that his expensive electronics, including a MacBook Pro and a PlayStation 5, had been stolen from his checked baggage upon arriving in Nigeria.
The man, who had boarded a flight from Cape Town, South Africa, arrived in Nigeria only to find that both of his bags had been tampered with. According to him, the luggage had been securely locked and tied before departure.
He claims airport staff in Cape Town verified the presence of his MacBook Pro during the luggage scan, and the bag reportedly weighed over 19 kilograms when checked in.
However, upon arrival, the bag’s weight had dropped significantly, now reading approximately 13 kilograms.
When he opened the luggage, he found clear signs of forced entry. The MacBook Pro and PlayStation 5 he had carefully packed were both missing.
Visibly upset, he recorded a video to document the incident, stating that the footage would serve as evidence should he pursue legal action.
He also noted that airport authorities in Nigeria were attempting to deflect responsibility, insisting the bags arrived in their current condition.
The ordeal has sparked conversation online, with many expressing concern about growing reports of theft and mishandling of passengers’ property at Nigerian airports.
Incidents like these have raised serious questions about airport security and accountability, especially when it comes to handling travelers’ checked baggage.
As the situation gains attention, it underscores the importance of never placing valuable electronics or personal items in checked luggage, especially on routes where airport theft has become a recurring issue.
