The internal conflict surrounding the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba has intensified sharply, as his sister, Ernestina Fosu, continues to resist plans for his burial. She insists that the family must first determine the exact cause of his death before any funeral arrangements are finalized.

Tensions escalated after the case was presented for directions and subsequently discussed during a Case Management Conference at the Kumasi High Court on Friday, October 31, 2025. Ernestina believes the family head, Abusuapanin Victor Kofi Owusu, is attempting to rush the funeral without transparency, ignoring the concerns of the deceased’s siblings.

According to her, private attempts to resolve the matter have failed, as she accuses the Abusuapanin — who is also their uncle — of secretly planning a December burial. She claims these actions are disrespectful and designed to sideline the nuclear family during a critical moment of grief.

Her frustration spilled over into a dramatic confrontation outside the courtroom, where she publicly challenged the Abusuapanin’s authority. Ernestina warned that going ahead with the burial without full disclosure would not be tolerated.

In a further escalation, she invoked the Otumfuo’s Great Oath — a sacred and powerful traditional action in Asanteman reserved for matters of great seriousness. The invocation now compels traditional authorities to intervene and fully assess the dispute before a burial can legitimately proceed.

Traditional leaders are expected to call her before the appropriate authority to justify her decision, while the family remains locked in disagreement over how to honour the late music legend.
