Heavy rainfall during the night has caused significant destruction at Gomoa Apra and Obolo Estate within Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District.
The downpour cut off the road linking Obolo Estate Junction to Obolo Estate and also rendered the Apra road impassable, preventing residents and motorists from accessing the area.
Over 400 residents have been displaced, with several buildings submerged in floodwaters.
In interviews with some affected residents, they expressed deep disappointment in the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Member of Parliament (MP), and officials of NADMO for failing to respond to their calls for assistance.
According to them, the problem has persisted for years without any intervention, despite several reports made to the authorities.
They added that whenever it rains, the only accessible road linking the community to the main Buduburam township is cut off due to a damaged bridge.
Frustrated by the lack of response, the residents have threatened to embark on a demonstration if immediate action is not taken.
Meanwhile, the DCE for Gomoa East District, Hon. Margaret Naana Ackom, has warned residents who have built structures in waterways to vacate immediately or risk demolition by the assembly.
