Hollywood actor and former model Boris Kodjoe has paid a strategic visit to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., to discuss potential areas of collaboration aimed at advancing value addition within Ghana’s gold sector.

The high-level engagement focused on exploring strategic opportunities to strengthen the processing, refining, branding, and global positioning of Ghana’s gold resources as part of broader efforts to ensure the country derives greater economic value from its mineral wealth.

During the meeting, both parties emphasised the importance of moving beyond the traditional model of exporting gold in raw form and instead prioritising local beneficiation through refining and downstream development.

They noted that such an approach would not only increase national revenue but also create jobs, stimulate industrial growth, and strengthen Ghana’s position in the global gold market.

Mr Gyamfi reiterated GoldBod’s commitment to supporting the government’s local value addition agenda, which seeks to transform Ghana from a raw material exporter into a country that processes and adds value to its mineral resources before export.

He stressed that the long-term vision is to build a gold economy that benefits Ghanaians more directly through industrialisation, increased foreign exchange retention, and stronger local participation across the value chain.

Discussions also explored how international networks, private sector investment, and global market access could be leveraged to support Ghana’s ambitions.

Boris Kodjoe, whose international profile spans entertainment, business, and philanthropy, was identified as a potential strategic partner in helping position Ghana’s gold industry on a stronger global platform.

His interest in the sector reflects growing international attention toward Ghana’s efforts to reform and modernise its gold trade, particularly through institutions such as GoldBod and partnerships focused on responsible sourcing and value addition.

The engagement is expected to open the door for future collaborations centred on innovation, investment, and strategic branding, with the ultimate goal of strengthening Ghana’s mining and mineral processing industry.

As GoldBod continues to push reforms across the gold value chain, partnerships of this nature reinforce its broader mission of ensuring that Ghana’s gold works first and foremost for Ghana and its people.
