A Kano State High Court has sentenced a woman, Fadila, to death by hanging for the murder of an 8-year-old girl, Aisha Sani, the daughter of her childhood friend.
According to reports, Fadila abducted the child and later threw her into a well, leading to her tragic death.
The girl’s body was recovered two weeks after she had been declared missing in the Gandu Albasa Quarters area of Kano.
Delivering the verdict, Justice Yusuf Muhammad-Ubale found the accused guilty of kidnapping and murder, ruling that she must face the death penalty.
Court records revealed that on July 14, 2019, at around 4:45 p.m., Fadila lured the child away in Tudun Wada Quarters, Kano. She later told her sister that the girl was the daughter of a friend who had traveled to Ghana and asked her to take care of the child until her supposed return.
However, just days later, on July 17, 2019, around 6:30 p.m., she threw the girl into a deep well in Tukuntawa Quarters, leading to her death.
With the court’s ruling, justice has been served for the tragic loss of young Aisha Sani.
